Despite playing their second game in as many nights, it was the visiting College of the Rockies (COTR) Avalanche that looked the sharper side in a 3-1 decision over the host Capilano Blues Saturday night at the North Vancouver campus.
The visitors took the first two sets before the Blues regrouped to take the third. Undeterred, the Avalanche closed it out in the fourth.
Setter Jenson Yuen (interview below) received decent passing from his teammates and ran the offence through outside hitters Jesse Lee and Rafael Hilario (clip below) early on but it was not enough to stop the Avalanche who showcased some big arms of their own including KeAndre Evans and Brazilian import Diego Policarpo.
COTR improves to a 6-5 PACWEST record after a win at Columbia Bible College Friday night while the Blues have now dropped three straight and sit at 6-7.
Next up for the Blues is a big final home weekend doubleheader against Douglas College. Game starts are 8 p.m. both Friday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12.
