Harry Liu's three pointer with under 10 seconds to go was the difference for the Blues Saturday night in a dramatic 86-82 home win over the Douglas College Royals.
Trailing by one and with 23.2 seconds on the clock, the Blues worked the ball around for a final shot when Liu got a good look and let fly from downtown (video below) finding the bottom of the mesh.
The three gave Liu 14 points on the night. CapU was led by Tyrone Asenoguan's double-double of 20 points and 11 rebounds while Owen Cutler went for 12 off the bench.
Blues coach Alex Van Samang opted for an all-guard starting lineup with 6-foot-7 Sam Bailey unavailable for the weekend. Marko Cosic (6-foot-4) took the opening tip and wound up with a 17-point night on 7-for-10 shooting.
Veteran guard CJ Campbell (interview below) started and tallied seven points and seven rebounds while providing his usual lockdown defending.
Friday night at Columbia Bible College, the Blues got 19 from Asenoguan and 16 from Brenden Bailey in an 86-73 win.
CapU (8-4, third in PACWEST) is next in action Saturday, Feb. 5 at Camosun College. Next home game is Friday, Feb. 18 with Langara College visiting the Centre for Sport and Wellness.
