Jenna Griffin and Martin Bogajev earn Athlete of the Week honours combining for 78 points in their weekend splits.
Jenna Griffin is the Capilano University Blues women’s basketball Athlete of the Week.
The first-year point guard had a massive weekend for the Blues, leading the team in scoring both nights as CapU split a weekend set at home against Camosun. In Friday’s opener, Griffin came off the bench and went off for a season-high 26 points on 10-of-16 shooting including 4-of-5 from three-point range as the Blues suffered a one-point defeat.
In Saturday’s game, Griffin was in the starting lineup and continued her shooting prowess, going 8-for-12 with a pair of threes while adding five assists. For the weekend, the Heritage Woods Secondary product scored 44 points while shooting 64 percent from the field and 75 percent from beyond the arc.
Martin Bogajev is the Capilano University Blues men’s basketball Athlete of the Week.
The fifth-year guard from Burnaby totaled 34 points in two games as the Blues split their weekend set against visiting Camosun College. In Friday’s opener, Bogajev scored 14 points while adding five rebounds, four steals, and two assists to help the Blues to their sixth win in a row to start the season.
On Saturday, the product of Burnaby South Secondary led the Blues with 20 points while going 4-for-8 from three-point territory in a narrow loss. For the weekend, Bogajev hit seven threes, shooting 38.8 percent from downtown, and added six rebounds and four assists.
