The PACWEST announced its 2021-22 basketball All-Stars Wednesday and Tyrone Asenoguan represents the Blues on the conference’s First Team.
It’s the latest honour for Asenoguan in a season he packed with highlights. The 6-foot-3 Vancouver product led the Blues in points per game (16.2) and was tops on the team in assists and steals.
Asenoguan posted a double-double on two occasions and was one rebound and two assists shy of a triple-double in a Feb. 18 home win over Langara College.
In his first season in Blues colours, the Kitsilano Secondary graduate showed the ability to produce whether in the starting lineup or coming off the bench, which he did in eight of 16 games.
Asenoguan led CapU in three-point percentage (41.5 per cent) among Blues players with at least 20 attempts and was second on the team in total offensive rebounds (31). He led the Blues in scoring seven times this season including five consecutive games spanning December to February.
The next time Asenoguan and the Blues will be in action is Thursday, March 3 at 3 p.m. at the PACWEST provincials where they will face Okanagan College in the quarter-finals.
CapU is the tournament No. 3 seed while Okanagan College is No. 6 seed.
