Jeremy Monn-Djasngar opened the scoring in the fourth minute and Nima Moazenizadeh, converting a long feed from Eric Swanson, and added on just over 10 minutes later on the way to a 3-1 CapU Blues win over the visiting Langara College Falcons on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Lillooet Park.
Langara responded with a goal from Henrique Claros in the 21st minute as they controlled play in the middle of the first half but it was the only ball they were able to get past Blues keeper Colby Moore in his first-ever start.
Monn-Djasngar added a second goal early in the second half, giving him three tallies on the season which tied him with Moazenizadeh for the team lead.
The No. 6-ranked Blues traveled to Nanaimo on Sunday for a date with the CCAA top-ranked Vancouver Island University Mariners and the teams traded goals in the 16th minute with Moazenizadeh retaking the CapU goal-scoring lead with his fourth of the season.
VIU showed their class soon after however with 2020 CCAA All-Canadian Shun Takano scoring in the 20th and 22nd minutes with what would be the decisive goals of the match.
Merlin Fisk got CapU back within one as he made no mistake from the penalty spot in the 66th minute but the Blues were unable to draw level. Fisk's goal was the first of his Blues career.
Capilano's record now sits at 2-1-0 and they are next in action Saturday, Oct. 2 at home against the Douglas College Royals (1-3).
