A pair of 2-1 results, a win over Langara and a loss to Vancouver Island University (VIU), moved the Capilano Blues season record to 4-3-1 with just four games left to improve position in the PACWEST standings.
On Sunday, CapU conceded the first goal of the game only to answer back less than a minute later on a Mya Fraser special, another header goal - her third of the season - after a Julia Peyton corner kick.
Coming out of halftime, VIU was sharp as soon as the ball was in play, cutting through the Blues formation and getting the ball to Jade Dillabough- who was dangerous all game - and she was able to slot the ball home for the game winner.
A series of Blues long drives throughout the second half failed to spring anyone behind the VIU defenders who repeatedly headed and volleyed the ball away.

On Wednesday at Langara in a game at Swangard Stadium, the Blues got goals from Lauren Grey and Alanah Dulong as they defeated the Falcons by a goal.
Grey's goal, her first of the season and second of her Blues career, opened the scoring in the 31st minute. Dulong was awarded a penalty kick early in the second half and she made no mistake with her tally standing up as the winner. Ayanah Hassan broke up Megan Thitchener's bid for a clean sheet with a tally in the 84th minute.
Next up, after the Thanksgiving break, is a game Saturday, Oct. 15 at Langara in a 1:45 p.m. kickoff at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex. The Blues are at home hosting Langara the next day, Sunday, Oct. 16 in a 1:30 p.m. kickoff at Mulgrave School.
