Brent Mutis, CapU Sport Information & Compliance Officer
The CapU Department of Athletics and Recreation is proud to announce increased resources for Blues student-athletes and for the entire university community with the hiring of an athlete services team.
Angad Multani began his role at CapU in July of 2022 as fitness, strength and conditioning facilitator and has already proven to be an incredible asset.
We are very fortunate to have someone with Angad’s passion and experience to build and develop this role," said CapU director of athletics and recreation Georgette Reed. "His expertise and demeanor are a perfect fit for our teams. This will help our programs grow and thrive.”
Laura Wood joined the team at CapU as athletic therapist at the beginning of August 2022 and immediately put her wealth of knowledge, ability and enthusiasm to use treating and rehabilitating Blues student-athletes.
"Laura is the cream of the crop; her ideas and vision for programming therapy services will benefit not only our athletes, but also our community," said Reed. "Our teams are being supported better than ever before."
Multani's work with student-athletes and coaches will be extremely helpful as Blues varsity teams get set for the start of the 2022-23 PACWEST season. In addition to that work, Multani will support CapU active health programmer Lesley Cambridge in creating recreation programming that is accessible for the entire Capilano University campus.
“The thing I’m most looking forward to in this role is developing strength and conditioning in our community,” said Multani. “CapU’s athletic department is dedicated to growing and offering its athletes and students the support they need to thrive.”
Wood has past experience at Simon Fraser University as an athletic therapist in the school's sports medicine clinic and through working with the university's men's football team.
"Having grown up on the North Shore, I was thrilled to stay close to my roots and join the team at CapU," said Wood. "Varsity sports are my passion and I can't wait to see how the seasons unfold as we work to keep the athletes ready for optimal performance on the field and on the court."
Multani and Wood will work in concert with Blues athletes and coaches throughout the respective PACWEST varsity sports seasons but will also support CapU's recreation programming where possible.
