Shooting a scorching 56.2 per cent from the floor and connecting on 10 three-pointers, the Capilano Blues opened their PACWEST provincial tournament by scoring a season high number in a 113-85 victory over the Okanagan College (OC) Coyotes Thursday.

The teams went shot for shot throughout the first half with offence being the theme of the afternoon. Tyrone Asenoguan had 20 in the first half for the Blues on his way to 29 for the game while OC had three starters in double digits over the first 20 minutes and shot a sizzling 57 per cent from the field though CapU took a 54-50 lead to the locker room.
CJ Campbell keyed the attack in the third quarter, scoring 13 of his 21, as the Blues took command of the game putting up 35 points in the frame to build a 19-point advantage heading to the fourth.
The final frame turned into the Russell Curley show as the Blues rookie went 4-for-5 from three-point land and racked up 16 points to help the Blues take it going away.
Campbell and Ahmad Athman combined for 11 steals on the afternoon while David Featherston contributed 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting.
Asenoguan was named Player of the Game while OC guard Ajay Gill took the nod for the Coyotes.
The Blues move on to the semifinals Friday where they will face the host team and No. 2-seed Camosun Chargers. Tip off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
