Kia Ahmadpour and Mya Fraser earn Athlete of the Week honours in their weekend splits.
Kia Ahmadpour is the Capilano University Blues Male Athlete of the Week.
The first-year Blues goalkeeper was crucial for his side in a pair of weekend draws at VIU. Ahmadpour was the busier of the two keepers in both games against the VIU Mariners and was credited with 15 saves, including nine in Sunday’s match. The Blues conceded a goal in the first minute Sunday but Ahmadpour closed the door after that, allowing CapU to eventually tie the game.
Making his debut in Blues colours, Ahmadpour played all 180 minutes for the Blues to open the PACWEST schedule.
Mya Fraser is the Capilano University Blues Female Athlete of the Week.
Fraser’s header goal Sunday at VIU secured a point for the Blues in a two-game Vancouver Island road trip. The North Vancouver native and graduate of Argyle Secondary converted a feed from Julia Peyton in the first half of Sunday’s game giving the Blues a 1-0 lead.
Fraser played all 180 minutes for the Blues on the weekend and was solid up and down the pitch.
