The top honour in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) is the Academic All-Canadian award, recognizing student-athletes who earned a spot on their conference all-star team as well as maintaining a grade-point average of 3.50 or better.
For the 2022-23 season, two Capilano Blues have been recognized with this prestigious award in the list published May 3 by the CCAA.
Meagan Briggs, the recently graduated forward from Blues women's basketball, earned All-Canadian status for the first time while women's soccer veteran Alanah Dulong took the nod for the third time in her career.
Briggs was named to the PACWEST second All-Star team after posting 9.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. In two seasons in Blues colours, Briggs worked her way into the top-25 all-time in both rebounds and assists. A communication major, the native of Redding, Calif. is a two-time CCAA National Scholar and a three-time Blues Scholar Athlete of Distinction.
Alanah Dulong earned a spot on the PACWEST women's soccer All-Star team for the third time in four seasons after making a successful switch to the forward position this past season. The North Vancouver native and graduate of Seycove Secondary established a career high in goals in 2022 with three which put her second on the team. The business student is a four-time Blues Scholar Athlete of the Year as well as a four-time CCAA National Scholar.
Both Briggs and Dulong will be recognized by the CCAA again in the fall when the list of National Scholars for the 2022-23 season is published.
