CapU Department of Athletics

With several recruits having been announced over the past few weeks, below is a comprehensive list of those who have been announced via our Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Men's Basketball

Alfonso Reyes

Alfonso Reyes

Hometown: Madrid, Spain
Previous Schools: ESIC University
Club: ADC Boadilla
Height: 6'6"
Position: Power/Small Forward

Reyes, “I'm grateful for this chance to play overseas at Capilano University. It’s a great opportunity to develop my game and reach my true potential with a very good sports/academic program. It will get me out of my comfort zone as well. I'm excited to win as much as possible with my team, and grow as a player and person."

Coach Klim, “We are thrilled to welcome Alfonso Reyes Sanz to the Blues men's basketball program! Hailing from Spain and coming to us with professional league experience. Alfonso brings a wealth of knowledge, intensity, and competitive edge to our squad. His transition from the pro ranks overseas to the collegiate scene in Canada is something we are extremely excited about. Alfonso is known for his relentless work ethic, toughness, and high basketball IQ. He is a dynamic offensive player who can knock down shots from deep and fearlessly attack the rim with purpose. His skill set fits seamlessly with our style of play, and we fully expect him to be a go-to presence on both ends of the floor. Defensively, Alfonso brings a tenacious mindset and a strong physical presence. He can guard multiple positions and will be looked upon to lead by example with his intensity and commitment on the court. His leadership qualities and experience make him a key addition not only for what he’ll do in games, but also for the tone he’ll help set in practice and in the locker room. We’re proud to have Alfonso begin his next chapter with us at Capilano University. His journey from Spain to Canada is just beginning, and we can’t wait to see the impact he will make with the Blues. Welcome to the Blues family, Alfonso!”

Oliver Seto

Oliver Seto

Hometown: Vancouver, BC
Previous Schools: Sir Winston Churchill Secondary
Height: 5'11"
Position: Guard

Seto, “I’d like to thank Coaches TJ and Ross for such a warm welcome into the Blues family. I’m excited to further my studies while working within our team towards building upon this program’s success. I love the environment being fostered here, and I feel extremely fortunate to come into such a great group of guys. The biggest thanks go out to my family, friends, coaches and teammates whose time and efforts have allowed me to pursue my goals.”

Klim, “The Capilano Blues are excited to welcome Oliver Seto to the program—a dynamic and tenacious guard whose presence will immediately elevate the team’s tempo and intensity on both ends of the floor.

Though not the biggest player on the court, Oliver more than makes up for it with his grit, court awareness, and relentless work ethic. Oliver is a strong ball handler with a natural feel for pace and rhythm, enabling him to control the game's flow. His ability to push the tempo in transition and create quick offensive opportunities will be a key asset for the Blues this season. Whether it’s turning a defensive rebound into a fast break or finding teammates in stride with sharp, decisive passes, Oliver plays with a fast and fearless edge that keeps defenses on their heels.

Defensively, Oliver brings toughness and energy to the perimeter. He takes pride in locking down opposing guards, using his speed and anticipation to apply ball pressure and disrupt passing lanes. Oliver’s competitive drive ensures that he battles for every
possession, diving for loose balls and taking on bigger opponents without hesitation. What truly sets Oliver apart is his mentality—he's a hard worker, a student of the game, and a team-first player.

His physicality, combined with a high basketball IQ and a never-back-down attitude, makes him the kind of player every coach loves to have in the rotation.

Welcome to the Blues family, Oliver!”

Meghan Ferguson

Meghan Ferguson

Hometown: Coquitlam, BC
Previous Schools: Terry Fox Secondary
Club: Venus FC
Height: 5'7"
Position: Centre-back

Ferguson, “I chose CapU because of the dedicated and inspiring coaching staff, as well as the hardworking and supportive team atmosphere. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play varsity soccer and to continue my education and study psychology in the fall.”

Coach Ring, "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Meghan to our team. She is a dedicated and tireless worker, consistently putting in the effort both on and off the field to improve her game and support those around her. Meghan brings a composed and intelligent presence to the back line—her calmness under pressure and ability to read the game will be a tremendous asset as we continue to build on the strength of our already solid defensive unit. With experience competing at a high level in the women’s game, she brings valuable maturity and insight to the group. We are confident that her transition into the physical and fast-paced environment of the PACWEST will be seamless, and we look forward to the leadership and stability she will add to our defensive core. We are excited to welcome Meghan to the team."

Kianna Sardari

Kianna Sardari

Hometown: North Vancouver, BC
Previous Schools: Simon Fraser University
Club: NSGSC Premiere Women's
Height: 5'7"
Position: Striker

Sardari, “I am looking forward to furthering my post-secondary education in the sciences and improving my skills on the field among a talented team."

Coach Ring, "Kianna is a powerful and explosive player whose physical presence on the field is matched by her competitive drive. She has already gained valuable experience competing at a high level in the women’s game, which has clearly helped her develop strong tactical awareness and a fearless approach in high-pressure moments. A local product of the NSGSC Premier Women's Team, her ability to challenge defenders, create space, and finish with confidence makes her a significant threat in the final third. We are excited to welcome Kianna to our squad and look forward to the impact her experience and attacking presence will bring to our team’s offensive dynamic."

Men's Volleyball

Arden Gillis

Arden Gillis

I look forward to new opportunities next year, and I am excited to pursue my degree in Kinesiology.”

Coach Brar, “Arden is a skilled athlete and top recruit in BC for the libero position in his class. He has a lot to offer the Capilano program with his steady, consistent play and quietly gets the job done without complaints. He understands his role and what’s expected of him and will put his best foot forward to help the team succeed in whatever manner that may be. We see a bright future for Arden and are thrilled to have him a part of this program for the 2025/26 season.”

Aiden Kulcheski

Kulcheski, “I chose CapU because of the great team culture, the opportunity to be coached by Irvan and the community feel of the campus."

Coach Brar, “Aiden is a unique character that has flown under the radar in a sense. Overcoming major challenges with injury and getting himself to a position of one of BC's top left-sides is no small feat. A highly exciting, skilled and resilient athlete and person, who's determined to leave a mark in the sport of Volleyball. We, as a coaching staff and team with the Blues, believe greatly in his ability to put in whatever work is necessary to attain his personal and team goals for the 2025/26 season. Aiden's arrival is thoroughly anticipated, and we are stoked to have him on board.”
