A pair of second-year international recruits earn Athlete of the Week recognition.
Barcha Hnizdilova is the Capilano University Blues women’s Athlete of the Week.
The second-year forward was the Blues leading scorer both nights, despite the weekend bringing a pair of defeats at the hands of the Columbia Bible College Bearcats.
Hnizdilova scored 11 points with five boards Friday, along with two assists, a steal and a block. She filled the stat sheet again Saturday with 15 points and four rebounds while handing out two assists and swiping four steals.
Kash Lang is the Capilano University Blues men’s Athlete of the Week.
The native of Lewiston, ID led the Blues in scoring on Friday and Saturday as CapU split a weekend set on the road at CBC.
In Friday’s loss on a last-possession bucket by CBC, Lang hit from downtown four times on the way to 20 points, five boards and two assists. Helping the Blues bounce back for a convincing win Saturday, Lang again drilled four from beyond the arc as he piled up 17 points, four rebounds and a career-best eight assists.
For the weekend, he was 8-for-14 from three-point territory (57 percent).
