A pair of multi-goal scorers earn Athlete of the Week honours for week two of the 2024-25 season.
Michaela Salvino is the Capilano University Blues women’s Athlete of the Week.
Making her Blues debut Saturday, Salvino had an immediate impact by scoring twice.
Her first was a header from a set piece and she then delivered a 30-yard wonder strike to the top corner, helping the Blues to their first win of the season, a 5-0 road win over Langara.
The 5-foot-5 midfielder played all 90 minutes on Sunday as the Blues earned another important point in the PACWEST standings with a 2-2 draw against visiting VIU.
Jeremy Monn-Djasngar is the Capilano University Blues men’s Athlete of the Week.
The 6-foot-1 native of Smithers, BC got back on the scoresheet in a big way over the weekend, scoring both games to help the Blues to a six-point weekend in wins against CCAA-ranked Langara and VIU.
Monn-Djasngar put the finishing touch on a 3-1 win Saturday at Langara with a left-footed blast and used the same foot to get CapU on the board in the opening minute of Sunday’s 2-1 home win over VIU. He also assisted on the game-winner minutes later and now has two goals and two assists on the campaign.
