25-26 Recruit Update #1
25-26 Recruit Update #1

CapU Department of Athletics

With a number of recruits having been announced over the past few weeks, below is a complete list of those that have or will be announced shortly via our Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Men's Basketball

Women's Basketball

Jade de Fondaumiere

Jade de Fondaumiere

Hometown: Delta, BC
Previous Schools: South Delta Secondary
Club: Split Second Basketball
Height: 6'0"
Position: Guard/Forward

Coach Weimer, "Size and skill, that’s what comes to mind when I think about Jade. She is tall, long and has a guard skill set, often playing the point for her South Delta Sundevils team. Jade has developed into a strong 3-point shooter; she can deliver it off the dribble or catch. Don’t let her guard skills fool you; she can also play inside, finishing well around the rim, rebounding and defending. Jade played her club ball with Split Second alongside fellow CapU signee Sasha Neuhaus. We can’t wait to work with her, she has a ton of potential."

Sasha Neuhaus

Sasha Neuhaus

Hometown: Vancouver, BC
Previous Schools: Sir Winston Churchill Secondary
Club: Split Second Basketball
Height: 5'8"
Position: Guard/Forward

Neuhaus, "I'm beyond excited to join the team and learn from the incredible girls and coaching staff along the way. I chose Capilano because of how welcoming everyone was, from the moment I met the team, I felt like I truly belonged. They welcomed me like family, and it’s clear that they have a strong bond and genuinely support each other. As for academics, I’m considering studying either kinesiology or business administration, as I’ve heard great things about both programs. I’m still deciding which path to take, but I know whatever I choose will be a great fit."

Coach Weimer, "Sasha works so hard. She is fit, tough and a fierce competitor. Coming out of Churchill, she has strong technical and tactical skills, having played for coach Simon Dyxtra. Sasha played her club ball with Split Second alongside fellow CapU signee Jade de Fondaumiere. Sasha plays much bigger and stronger than her measurements suggest; this alone will help her transition to post-secondary basketball. She can shoot it, finishes well, and is a good rebounder and defender. I’m excited to start working with Sasha as she begins the next chapter of her academic and basketball career at CapU."

Alanna Schieman

Alanna Schieman

Hometown: North Vancouver, BC
Previous Schools: Argyle Secondary School
Club: VK Basketball
Height: 5'10"
Position: Guard/Forward

Coach Weimer, "We're very excited and fortunate to have North Vancouver local Alanna Schieman joining our Blues family. I’ve been following Alanna’s growth as a player for the past several years. She came up through the NVSD Basketball Academy. She had a strong career as a Piper under coach Anthony Beyrouti at Argyle Secondary, including winning the Grade 9 Girls Provincial Championship and being named Tournament MVP. Alanna played club basketball with VK Basketball, travelling down south and competing in several top-tier tournaments. She is a dynamic player full of athleticism who thrives in the open court. Alanna can defend and play multiple positions and has a high IQ. I'm looking forward to watching Alanna continue to grow as a person and player at CapU"

Schieman, "I chose to play basketball at Capilano University because I connected really well with Coach Weimer, and I like the team’s style of play. The campus’s natural surroundings create a great atmosphere, and being just a short drive from home allows me to stay connected with my community while competing at the next level.”

The University provides an excellent opportunity for me to further my education and earn a degree, while also offering the resources and coaching necessary to develop as an athlete and achieve my personal goals."

Parsa Rabiei

Parsa Rabiei

Hometown: Babolsar, Iran
Previous Schools: Gleneagle Secondary School
Club: Ducks Volleyball Club
Height: 6'1"

Rabiei, "I decided to join the Blues men's volleyball program because of the high volleyball level and the great coach and players. I was also drawn to the beautiful campus and its strong academic reputation in science."

Coach Brar, "Parsa is a great young man, who's poised and confident in his ability. He has plenty of experience playing at the higher levels with his U18 and U20 National team experience. We're privileged to have an athlete of his calibre on the squad."
