With a tie and a loss in their most recent action, the Capilano Blues now find themselves tied atop the PACWEST standings with three weekends remaining in the regular season.
On Saturday at home, CapU scored twice in injury time, including the tying goal on a penalty kick in injury time by Alanah Dulong, to earn a point in a 4-4 tie against visiting Vancouver Island University (VIU) Saturday afternoon at CapU's Lillooet Park.

VIU got out to a 3-0 lead Saturday with Jami Hartwick scoring twice on her way to an eventual hat trick. Capilano got one back before the end of the half on a goal by Lauren Grey, who cleaned up a scramble in the area with her first of the season off a Julia Peyton free kick to get the Blues on the board
The visitors restored their three-goal advantage in the second half on Hartwick's hat trick goal but Capilano didn't roll over and go away. Dulong converted a volley on a cross from Grey to make it 4-2 and in injury time, Mya Fraser headed home her third goal of the season to get the Blues within one.
Significant time was added in the second half due to an injury to Blues rookie Alessia Bellotti. It made a difference because, as the final seconds ticked away, CapU was awarded a penalty kick for a VIU hand ball in the area and Dulong delivered, slotting her shot just inside the right post.
Maya Smith interview:
On Sunday at Douglas College, Capilano again fell behind, conceding in the 26th minute after a Royals corner kick. It remained a 1-0 game until the 71st minute when a Caitlyn Chiu kick ricocheted its way to Aynsley Hurtado who executed a perfect left-footed shot just inside the near post to tie the game. Douglas reclaimed the lead for good just a few minutes later, converting on a corner kick.
Capilano and Douglas now have identical 3-1-2 records, tied for the PACWEST lead.
The PACWEST schedule has the Blues at Langara College on Saturday, Sept. 30 and Langara comes to CapU's Lillooet Park the next day, Sunday, Oct. 1 in a Noon kickoff.
