A pair of outside hitters combine for 30 kills and earn Athlete of the Week honours.
Annika Kuznik is the Capilano University Blues women’s Athlete of the Week.
Kuznik was one of CapU’s top performers in a pair of setbacks to Douglas College. The 5-foot-8 outside hitter finished among the Blues kills leaders for the weekend, including ten in a five-set heartbreaker Saturday.
In addition to her offence, Kuznik maintained her improved defensive game, getting in on multiple blocks each night and keeping points alive on coverage. Kuznik was consistent from the service line with an ace in each match.
Trevor Matthysen is the Capilano University Blues men’s Athlete of the week.
In a difficult weekend against a high-flying Douglas College side, Matthysen was one of the Blues most consistent
performers with six kills on both nights.
The rookie outside hitter also hung tough on receiving against some high-velocity Douglas serves, making good passes for the Blues setters.
