Mia Parkin

Mia Parkin

Hometown: Adelaide, Australia
Previous Schools: Pembroke School
Height: 5'10"
Position: Guard

Parkin, "I’m super excited to have the opportunity to play with CapU this coming year. I was lucky enough to be able to visit the campus last month and meet all the girls and coaching staff. They could not have made me feel more welcome and I can’t wait to share this experience with them all.  I’m looking forward to joining the squad for the next season and am beyond excited for what that holds."

Coach Wiemer, "Welcome to the Blues Family Mia Parkin! We're so thrilled to be adding this skilled, high IQ player to our roster for the upcoming 2024/25 season. Mia is a long, quick guard/forward who will be able to step right in, play, and defend multiple positions. Her experience as one of the youngest players competing in Australia's NBL1 League will be a huge asset for us. Her recent visit to North Vancouver solidified her potential to impact our program and its culture as she fit right in on and off the court during her week-long visit. We're looking forward to what the future holds for her."

Grace Jerome

Grace Jerome

Hometown: Langley, BC
Previous Schools: Langley Fundamental
Height: 6'0"
Position: Middle Blocker

Jerome, "I like the intensity of the program and the team culture at CapU. The campus is beautiful and they have amazing facilities."

Coach Swanson, "Grace is a player we have been working to sign for a while now. She has had excellent coaching in her development as a volleyball player and she is eager to take her play to the next level."

Ella Green

Ella Green

Hometown: Kelowna, BC
Previous Schools: Kelowna Secondary
Height: 5'9"
Position: Outside Hitter

Green, “I love the atmosphere of the campus and the team, the girls seem inclusive with one another, and I like head coach John Swanson’s coaching style. This experience made me feel close to home inside. Ultimately, I felt like I could see myself attending Capilano for the 2024 season.”

Coach Swanson, “Ella Green is well known in the volleyball community as an exceptionally talented and skilled beach volleyball player, and she came to our Capilano Identification Camp to showcase her indoor skills. Even before we had the pleasure of watching her KSS team win the 2023 4A Girls Provincial Championships and Ella receiving the tournament MVP award we were absolutely thrilled to receive the news from Ella that she was choosing Capilano to be her future school and volleyball destination. Ella is extremely skilled in her passing and defensive execution while also dominating in her attacking and serving game. Ella also has an exceptional level of maturity in her play that will serve her well at the PACWESTBC level. Ella will be bringing a level of compete and enthusiasm that will perfectly blend in with our present team and culture.”

Monica Hoffman

Monica Hoffman

Hometown: West Kelowna, BC
Previous Schools: Mount Boucherie Secondary
Height: 5'5"
Position: Libero

Hoffman, "I chose CapU because I was immediately drawn to the beautiful, scenic campus. I also admire the positive atmosphere the team and coaching staff have created. I can’t wait to be a part of such a supportive, driven, and talented team!

Coach Swanson, "Monica came to our Capilano Identification Camp and showcased all the skills and abilities we were able to witness previously in video and simply earned herself a roster spot. As a coaching staff, we were immediately drawn to Monica’s skill set, movement on the court, and maturity in her reading and comprehension of the game and her position. She has had strong coaching in the past, which we greatly appreciate. Monica will also bring a great deal of positive energy to our CapU team and culture!"

Paige Kaminski

Paige Kaminski

Hometown: Osoyoos, BC
Previous Schools: Osoyoos Secondary School
Height: 5'5"
Position: Libero

Kaminski, "I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of the campus and the volleyball team. At Capilano, everyone treats each other like they are a big family, very supportive, inclusive and respectful. The coaches never fail to make anyone laugh and I really like the coaching style at CapU. I am very excited to be a part of the team and family, and I'm looking forward to the 2024 volleyball season!"

Coach Swanson, "I had the sincere pleasure of coaching Paige in her grade 11 season at OSS. Paige has always been extremely hard-working, tenacious in her will to compete, and her desire to learn and improve daily. She will be coming to CapU to play a new position and will take the year to adjust to these changes along with learning the increased speed and intensity of the PACWEST conference. We are pleased to have Paige joining our team and family!"

Paige Kaminski

Mollie English

Hometown: Fort St. John, BC
Previous Schools: Vernon Secondary School
Height: 5'8"
Position: Setter

English, "I decided to go to Capilano University because of the energetic, positive and supportive atmosphere that the whole team and coaching staff has created. I really love John’s enthusiastic coaching style along with his fast-paced practices. I was also immediately drawn to the beautiful nature on campus. I am so excited and grateful to attend CapU alongside an amazing group of talented athletes."

Coach Swanson, "Mollie is a 5’8” setter from Vernon Secondary School in beautiful Vernon, BC. Mollie was another individual who attended our November Capilano Identification Camp and performed exceptionally well over the 2-day camp. Mollie possesses tremendous setting skills along with a mature comprehension of the game. She guided her team in the 2023 Girls 3A provincials to a second-place finish. Despite badly spraining her ankle on the final play of day two’s competition, she persevered on the final day and received MVP honours. Mollie is the kind of individual who is all about the team first, and her unselfish nature, yet competitive spirit will lend itself well to the culture and team structure here at Capilano University. We are very excited to have Mollie joining our Capilano women’s volleyball program."
