A pair of business-like wins at home over the Okanagan College (OC) Coyotes have the Capilano Blues back on level ground at 10 wins and 10 losses for the season with four games to go.
The Blues closed out the weekend sweep with a 73-64 win Saturday afternoon after claiming an 80-68 victory in Friday's opener.
CapU got 13 points from Kash Lang Saturday, which led all Blues scorers, but contributions up and down the lineup and some tidy team defensive work allowed the home side to maintain a lead from early in the first quarter through the final buzzer.
Lang's nine first-quarter points paced the Blues early. Tristan Keah-Tigh, a transfer who joined the team in January, got warm in the second quarter with a three and another bucket plus a pair of free throws to help Capilano build an 11-point edge at halftime.
OC had their best frame in the third and ate into the CapU lead, getting nine from Jarron Quarles who ended up with a game-high 27. The Blues got across the finish line with five points from Ahmad Athman in the fourth plus a pair of buckets from Suraj Gahir.
On Friday, Capilano overcame a four-point deficit at the end of the first quarter, getting buckets from seven different scorers in the second frame to go up seven after 20 minutes. Josh Dhillon had 13 of his 20 on the night in the first half while Russell Curley had all six of his points in the fourth and also ripped 12 boards on the night in 16 minutes coming off the bench.
Now back to .500 for the season, Capilano sits in fourth place in the PACWEST standings. They finish the regular season on the road with trips to Columbia Bible College on Feb. 16 and 17 and a trip to Camosun College Feb. 24 and 25.
