A pair of 2-0 weekends for women's volleyball and men's basketball helped Nnya Mbaoma and Zach Klim earn Athlete of the Week honours.
Nnya Mbaoma is the Capilano University Blues women’s Student-Athlete of the Week.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter was phenomenal for the Blues on the weekend, helping her team to two wins over defending conference champion Camosun.
Mbaoma recorded 13 kills on 19 swings Friday while also scoring an ace, two blocks and 12 digs.
In Saturday’s five-set comeback win, the Nanaimo, B.C. product had 13 more kills with an ace and a block. For the weekend, she hit .619 (26 kills on 42 attempts) and helped the Blues improve to 4-0 on the campaign.
Zach Klim is the Capilano University Blues men’s Athlete of the Week.
The 6-foot-11 centre helped the Blues to a pair of wins on the road at Douglas College to get CapU back to the .500 mark.
Klim played limited duty Friday owing to some early foul trouble but still scored 14 points in 14 minutes.
On Saturday, Klim eclipsed the 30-minute mark and contributed 20 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals. He was extremely efficient shooting the ball on the weekend, posting an 81 percent field goal mark (13-of-16) while also going 8-for-10 from the free-throw line.
