Nnya Mbaoma is the Capilano University Blues women's Student-Athlete of the Week.
The 5-foot-10 outside hitter was dominant in the Blues' PACWEST semifinal win that clinched her team a spot in the CCAA nationals for the first time since 2014.
In the semifinal against Douglas College, Mbaoma chalked up 17 kills and an ace to help the Blues upend the tournament host Royals. She reached double-digit kills in the gold medal match as well with 11 and earned a spot on the tournament All-Star Team.
Suraj Gahir is the Capilano University Blues men's Student-Athlete of the Week.
Gahir filled the stat sheet in both games as the Blues split a weekend road trip at Camosun College.
In the opener on Saturday, the 6-foot-5 guard went for nine points, eight boards and four assists in a one-point defeat. He helped the Blues to a convincing 19-point win in the season finale with 10 points, six assists and three rebounds.
On the weekend, he shot 56 percent from three-point range and dished out 10 assists.
