A pair of 3rd year basketball student-athletes Maddy Coffin and Ahmad Athman earn Athlete of the Week honours.
Maddy Coffin is the Capilano University Blues women’s Athlete of the Week.
Coffin helped the Blues to a pair of wins over Langara to open their 2023-24 PACWEST schedule.
The 5-foot-11 North Vancouver product filled the stat sheet both nights, including 16 points, nine boards and five blocks Friday. She led Capilano in scoring and rebounding on Saturday with 24 and 14. For the weekend, she had 40 points, 23 rebounds and six blocks while adding three assists and a steal.
Ahmad Athman is the Capilano University Blues men’s Athlete of the Week.
The 6-foot guard made an impact both nights as the Blues split with Langara.
Athman posted a double-double in Friday’s home-opening win with 14 points and 11 assists and followed with 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds. Athman was highly efficient shooting the ball, going 11 for 18 (61 percent) from the field and 5-for-9 from three (56 percent).
For the weekend, he collected 19 assists while committing just three turnovers.
