On the eve of the PACWEST Provincials, a pair of Capilano Blues received accolades for their strong regular seasons. Third-year forward Greet Gill was named a First Team All-Star, and rookie point guard Wowie Untalan was voted conference Rookie of the Year.

Gill, who transferred to Capilano this season after two years at UBC Okanagan, was all over the PACWEST leaderboard this season. The graduate of Southern Okanagan Secondary in Osoyoos was in the top four in all major categories, finishing fourth in scoring at 17.61 points per game, second in rebounding with 9.89 boards per game, and fourth in assists with 3.00 per contest. On defence, he averaged just over two steals per game, and showed versatility in defending both guards and forwards.

Coming out of Delview Secondary in North Delta, Untalan took over the point guard duties for Cap and established himself as one of the bright young players in the PACWEST. Starting 15 games and playing over 26 minutes per contest, Untalan paced an offence that averaged 78.8 points per contest and finished in third place in the conference at 10-8. His average of 3.13 assists per game was the third-best mark in the league, and he also averaged 8.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals per game.

Untalan is the second Blues player in the last three years to be named top rookie, as Martin Bogajev took home the award in 2014-15. Gill is the first Cap player to a First Team All-Star since Andrew Morris in 2014-15.

Capilano heads into the PACWEST Provincial Championships as the #3 seed, and will take on the #6 Camosun College Chargers in the first round of the single knockout tournament. The Blues went 2-1 against Camosun this season, though the Chargers took the last meeting 87-60. Tip-off goes at 3:00 pm on Thursday, March 2 at Quest University in Squamish, with the winner advancing to play Langara College in the semis. All tournament games can be viewed on pacwestbc.tv.
