The PACWEST soccer schedule for the 2025 season is out, and the Capilano Blues men’s and women’s teams each have several key dates to circle on the calendar.
Schedule highlights:
- Sunday, Sept. 7 – Blues home opener at Lillooet Park – Women’s game at Noon, men’s game at 2:30 p.m.
- Saturday/Sunday, Sept. 20-21 – VIU doubleheader road trip to Nanaimo
- Saturday/Sunday, Sept. 27-28 – Double home weekend – Home games against Douglas and Langara. Noon start for women’s game each day.
- Saturday, Oct. 18 – Home games hosted at CapU Squamish against VIU. Noon start for women’s game.
- Saturday/Sunday, Oct. 25-26 – PACWEST Provincial Championship, hosted at CapU Squamish
For the Blues women’s side, it will be their first season under new head coach Charlotte Ring, who was an assistant with the program last year. Ring helped the team to a bronze-medal finish at the CCAA National Championship and now gets to put her stamp on a program that last won a PACWEST provincial title in 2021 and is in search of its first CCAA title since 2001.
Veteran Lauren Grey should be a mainstay on the back line after missing last year due to injury, and will be joined there by Sophie Pather and Isabella Bolognese. Up front, Kaitlyn Johnson and Sasha Faris will be counted with the incoming recruiting class adding some skill to the final third of the pitch as well.
On the men’s side, the team has improved in each of the last two seasons under head coach Steve Millar and now aims to get past the PACWEST provincial tournament. Last season, the Blues returned to the playoffs for the first time since 2019 but were upended by Douglas College in the semifinal.
Captain Tommy Millar is determined to help this group return to the national stage and will have support from fellow returners Andrew Cerqueira and Riley Marshall. Goalkeeper Graydon Sherle will get the majority of starting assignments after an impressive rookie campaign in 2024.
Both Blues teams have full preseason agendas ahead of them in preparation for opening weekend. The women have a camp in Squamish from August 7 to 10.
