Irvan Brar took over the head coach role with Blues men's volleyball in March of 2025.

A native of Surrey, B.C, Brar is an accomplished volleyball professional with extensive coaching and playing experience, recognized for his dedication to developing youth athletes.

As a UBC alumnus, Brar set records in all-time points and kills. In 2018, he proudly captained the UBC Thunderbirds to their first national championship in 35 years, marking a standout achievement in his collegiate career. On the international stage, he represented Team Canada at both the junior and senior levels and led the Canadian University Volleyball Team during the Universiade FISU Games in South Korea (2015) and Taiwan (2017).

After a rewarding six-year professional playing career across Germany, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain, Brar experienced significant success in Denmark, securing both Cup and League Championships. Notably, the Cup Championship was the first for his Danish team in 41 years, and he earned MVP honours in both competitions. Following this achievement, he transitioned into coaching, gaining valuable experience with both men's and women's professional teams in Denmark.

Following this, he returned to Canada and founded YST (Yogi Sports Training) in Surrey, focusing on nurturing Canadian talent. He also most recently served as an assistant coach for Capilano University during the 2024-25 season.

Widely respected in the volleyball community, Brar is dedicated to developing the next generation of athletes and eagerly anticipates elevating the standard of Capilano University's men's volleyball team.
