Langara's 3-point Barrage Too Much for Blues

The Capilano Blues battled hard but ultimately fell short to the Langara Falcons in a tense 76-70 loss in front of an electric home crowd on Alumni Night. Despite a slow start and struggles from beyond the arc, the Blues fought their way back into the game, but Langara's hot shooting from three-point range throughout the game proved too much to overcome.

In a night filled with energy and excitement, the Blues fought hard to come back from a halftime deficit in a thrilling contest against the Falcons. The energy in the gym was unmatched; with the volleyball teams on a bye week and the soccer teams in the off-season, the student section was absolutely buzzing and packed all night long. The alumni in attendance brought an extra touch of celebration to the night, enjoying the beer garden and exclusive seating area.

The game started with a tight back-and-forth first quarter, with both teams struggling to find their rhythm. Langara gained the upper hand late in the first quarter while the Blues battled with an off night from beyond the arc. The Falcons remained consistent with their efforts through the first three quarters before the Blues battled back in the fourth with help from the crowd to gain momentum. With a clutch late 3 from Kim Tiu that had the crowd erupting, the Blues cut the Falcons lead to 2 with under a minute to go. Unfortunately, the comeback efforts were ultimately stopped when the Falcons hit a couple of free throws to seal the deal.

Mia Parkin played the entire game and was a force on both ends of the court, registering 14 points and 15 rebounds. Maddy Coffin left her mark tonight with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Barcha Hnizdilova was reliable as always, with 16 points, 6 assists and 11 rebounds.

The Blues ultimately struggled from 3-point range tonight, making only 16% of their shots from distance. They will look to tighten that up as they face the Falcons in a rematch tomorrow at 5 pm at the Centre for Sport and Wellness.

Come out and support your Blues!
