The Capilano Blues available roster currently runs only about eight bodies deep but they managed to extract from that crew enough to earn a Friday-Saturday road sweep of the Langara Falcons.

Maddy Coffin and Mia Parkin each started and played the full 40 minutes Friday, both posting 16 points. The pair were in synch and on target from tipoff, each draining three buckets in the first quarter, which allowed the Blues to build a 10-point lead after 10 minutes which essentially held up over the course of the game on the way to a 65-57 win.

Coffin, who was named the PACWEST Athlete of the Week on Nov. 6, also recorded two blocks while Parkin collected five boards and two assists.

Off the bench, Blues coach Chris Weimer had just three reserves to choose from but got contributions from Steffi Bael and Brooklyn Klim, who each hit the scoresheet while recent roster addition Kim Tiu played 21 minutes in relief of starting point guard Lauren Tomlinson and delivered a pair of threes plus two steals.

Blues second-year forward Barcha Hnizdilova couldn’t get calibrated on her jumper Friday but made a key contribution with 16 boards, three assists, a block and a steal while also getting to the charity stripe where she was 7-of-10.

In Saturday’s rematch, Parkin upped the ante with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting but the Blues team defence was the story of the night as they held the Falcons to single-digit points in the second and fourth quarters, leading to a 63-38 CapU win.

Coffin and Hnizdilova also reached double-digit scoring Saturday while Klim collected seven boards off the bench.

Next up for the Blues is a road set in Abbotsford against the Columbia Bible College (CBC) Bearcats Nov. 15 and 16. Tipoff is 6 p.m. Friday and 5 p.m. on the Saturday. CBC carries a 5-3 record heading into PACWEST Week 5.
