Men's Basketball
Lucas Egitto
Hometown: South Surrey, BC
Previous Schools: Elgin Park Secondary
Height: 6'0"
Position: Guard
Egitto, “I chose CapU because of the great basketball program under Head Coaches Alex Van Samang and Jason Price.”
Coach Price, “Lucas comes to us from Elgin Park Secondary in Surrey. Lucas helped lead his team to a 2nd place finish at the 3A Boys Basketball Provincials. He was also named the Defensive Player of the Tournament. He played his club basketball with Drive Basketball.”
Benito Daniel Reed
Hometown: Coquitlam, BC
Previous Schools: Riverside Secondary
Height: 6'5"
Position: Small Forward/Power Forward
Reed, “I am excited to announce my commitment to the Capilano University Men’s Basketball Program. My decision was based on the outstanding recruitment process, and the grit and hustle on both ends of the court. It’s a very positive and competitive environment and I’m looking forward to being a part of it”.
Coach Price, “Benito brings with him a physical presence that not too many incoming Freshmen have. He can guard both under the basket and on the perimeter. Benito will be a key player in our program for years to come. “
Aaron Ungprasert
Hometown: Vancouver, BC
Previous Schools: Magee Secondary
Height: 6'7"
Position: Forward
Ungprasert, “I chose Capilano because it has a great program and a culture that I want to be a part of, and of course the opportunity to play for at the collegiate level.”
Coach Price, “Aaron brings a tremendous amount of athleticism and length. He has the ability to play, and guard multiple positions. Aaron will be a key member of our program for years to come.”
Joshua Vandevelde
Hometown: Abbotsford, BC
Previous Schools: Robert Bateman Secondary
Height: 6'7"
Position: Small Forward/Power Forward
Vandevelde, "I chose CapU for its strong jazz music program and I am excited to join the men’s basketball team this season."
Coach Price, “Joshua is a dynamic player with a very high compete level. He brings size and grit to our lineup along with his ability to do the dirty work at both ends of the floor.“
Russell Curley
Hometown: Mission, BC
Previous Schools: University of the Fraser Valley, Fraser Valley Mountaineers
Height: 6'6"
Position: Forward
Curley, “I chose Capilano based on their program's success over the past few years and also getting to play for Coaches Jason Price and Alex Van Samang. I feel that with the players they have returning along with the incoming recruits CapU is the place for me. I hope to contribute in any way to the success of the Blues. “
Coach Price, “Russ brings length and the ability to shoot the ball. He can rebound the ball at both ends of the floor. Russ will be a key contributor to our team's success this year and for years to come.”
